Having a
room dedicated to my comics, and my
gaming has been a dream of mine for nearly 15 years now. Today I am
living that groovy dream...
This is how
the room started out...
the view from the doorway, you can see the shelves in the back, which
my brother scored for free from his job. The were used by Applebees in
their walk-in to store big crates of potatoes and the like, so the
amount of weight they can hold is incredible, especially since they are
so thin, aluminum with steel reinforced plastic shelves. Two large
couches make for ample player seating when gaming. Ignore the table,
its just a cheap folding table that we are using until we can get the
ultimate gaming table built (my next big project). I sawed the legs off
to make it more suitable for use from the couches, now its the perfect
height. There is another folding table, but its being borrowed right
now.
Anyway, on
the shelves in the back, there are 44 long
boxes, the boxes hold only single copies of comics. The four topless
boxes on the top right hold comics I don't care enough to actually
catalogue, but I have a copy of anyway, these range from really crappy
indie books, old war comics and westerns, to books like avengers and
fantastic four. The boxes on the top two levels all conatin either
comic or toy related stuff...... including some boxes of old broken
star wars vehicles I plan on blowing to hell this 4rth of july......
The room
had bare cement floors, and a shitty card table with the legs sawed
off...

Here
is what it looks like today. As you can see, I put a curtain up
to cover the hideous shelves, and my nice new shiny groovetastic gaming
table... 40 x 64 inches, all gridded out in one inch squares.

The
same view, only lower so you can see the cubby holes... The little
silver disks are LED puck lights, 6 in all, attached to the table with
velcro, so in low light situations players can always find their dice,
look something up, etc...

There is a
light inside the table, so the cubby holes are illuminated, makes
finding dice and what not a bitt easier...

A walk
around of the table from various angles...

While
under the normal light, the table top is grey, it is coated with an
Ultraviolet paint is invisible until you shine a blacklight on it, then
it glows bright blue. Even with the normal lights on, you can see the
effect...

But
when you just use a blacklight, the effect is stunning, and honestly
the blacklight is a 48 inch model, and puts off plenty of light, though
will reserve using it alone for combat situations, to preserve the
cool...

Going to
take a beak for just a minute and describe the rest of the room for
anyone interested...
the
corner behind the couch is my little shrine to Godzilla...... sadly,
much of my godzilla goodness was destroyed in a flood in my old
house....... cry sadness....... But, the odd colored large godzilla in
front is actually a lamp, very glad I still have that, its pretty rare.
The
other shelves here are reserved for my players to store any books or
whatnot they like, these books belong to Cameron, my oldest friend here
in Arkansas.

In
the opposite corner, The shelf on the left holds my trades and graphic
novels, the other shelf holds the toys I like enough to display. I lost
a bunch of groovy japanese toys and models somehow, they just
dissapeared.

A
view from the corner seat of the couch looking at the door. The dresser
on the left is full of board games, the bookshelf is full of
roleplaying game books.

This is my
computer and GM corner. Everything I could possibly need to run a game
is easily accessable from here.

In addition
to my GM tools, the top shelf also holds all my Art books, sadly there
used to be much more, but many were stolen...

A
closer look at the gaming books, The top shelf has every cyberpunk 2020
book ever printed, the middle shelf is for "other" gaming books,

and
the lower shelf is strictly for dungeons and dragons. There used to be
a lot more dnd and general gaming books, but they have either been lent
out, or lost. The cabinet underneath holds CP 2020 material I printed
off the net, as well as other tools a large stack of Who's Who/Marvel
Universe type books, and dragon magazines..

A closer
look at the graphic novels and trade paperbacks.

In the
cabinets underneath the trades I keep all my prestige format books.
plus a few japanese language manga.

A
better look at the toys on my trade shelves...... No way in hell am I
ever getting rid of my shogun warriors or my original Falcon....... and
how many of you have Spiderman and the hulk toilet paper......... it
actually tells a story......

And the
toys on the rpg book shelf

Ok, here,
just because its cool, is my custom GM Screen for Cyberpunk 2020,

Ready for
game...

Last
but not least, as the completion of the table coincides with the ten
year anniversary of this group playing together, in addition to the
table, I hand painted all the numbers and pips of my players d10's and
d6's (the dice used in CP 2020) with glow in the dark paint. These are
my dice, but you can see the effect...
